Worldwide Medical Assurance, Ltd. Corp. (WMA) was founded in 1999, the initiative of C. Zanoni Selig, a business executive with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance business.

Mr. Selig, who had previously managed leading insurance agencies in Latin America, saw the need to create a health coverage alternative for residents of the region which combines local service with international experience.

With this vision, the support of an entrepreneurial team of professionals, and an association with BHD Financial Center, a consortium that groups financial companies, and which has as its major investors Banco Sabadell of Spain and Popular Bank of Puerto Rico, Mr. Selig created an international medical insurance company that currently has a successful presence in five countries in the region.

Because of Panama’s central location in Latin America, its multicultural environment, political stability, and the existence in the country of a significant number of insurance and reinsurance companies, WorldWide Medical transferred its headquarters to Panama in 2006 from where it will expand its operations throughout Latin America.

WMA offers insurance and reinsurance services commercializing hospitalization and life insurance plans. Its specialty, however, is international hospitalization where it offers a provider network of over 4,000 hospitals.

In addition to its operations in Panama, WMA has a presence in:

1. Dominican Republic – Through Seguros WorldWide, Seguros Banreservas and Seguros Constitución.
   
2. El Salvador – Through a strategic alliance with SISA, the leading insurance in the country.
3. Guatemala – Alliance with Seguros Tikal.
